Official Rules – Build Your Castle: Ocean State Classic Sandcastle Builders Competition
• Eligibility: Open to all Rhode Island residents. All ages welcome. Children under 18 must have a parent/guardian submit their entry.
• Entry Dates: Builds must be completed between August 15–31, 2025.
• Location: Any public or private beach in Rhode Island.
• How to Enter:
1. Build your sandcastle.
2. Take up to 3 clear photos (include at least one with your team in the picture).
3. Fill out the online entry form and submit your photos via the provided upload link.
• Photo Guidelines:
• No digital editing or adding elements after the fact.
• Builds must be created during the competition period.
• No stock or previously taken photos.
• Judging: Entries will be judged on Creativity, Detail, and Overall Presentation.
• Prizes: Grand prize winner will be announced after the submission deadline.
• No Purchase Necessary: Participation is free. Donations to The Hero Company are optional and do not affect judging.
• Safety Reminder: Respect beach rules, stay clear of restricted areas, and clean up your space after building.
• Have Fun: The spirit of this event is creativity, family, and community.

(Not legally binding, but we take them way too seriously.)
1. Your dog may spectate, but any “moat incidents” will be considered acts of war.
2. The tide is not in your control. Complaints about the ocean will be filed under “Nature Problems.”
3. No bribing the judges with lobster rolls… unless they’re from Aunt Carrie’s, in which case we’ll talk.
4. No weaponizing beach balls against other castles — this isn’t Game of Thrones.
5. Sand quality disputes must be addressed to the Official Sand Inspector (he’s the guy in sunglasses pretending to test it with his fingers).
6. Seagulls are neutral parties and will not be removed from the premises, even if they stare at your castle suspiciously.
7. No using concrete — this is a sandcastle competition, not a home addition project.
8. Moats must be shallow enough that a hermit crab can cross safely.
9. Parental over-engineering will be penalized if it results in a 6-year-old crying because Dad “took over the project.”
10. If you’re caught using a 3D printer for sand molds, we’ll just be impressed… but you’ll still be disqualified.
